When building a wooden frame (from commercial or self-made mouldings) the elements are cut with mitre-cut ends... which must then be assembled by gluing and clamping.
Modern glues are extremely strong and, as soon as the clamping has been correctly carried out during the setting of the glue, the assembly proves to be very solid and sufficient for an amateur.
But for those who are looking for a foolproof assembly, based on professional framers, the LOGAN company has developed a MANUAL ASSEMBLY that produces an impeccable result in all types of wood...
This manual assembler is distributed by the following companies in particular WalMart (119$) et AMAZON (105$) which I have already had the opportunity to quote in the online hardware purchase test regarding LOGAN hardware.
One of the strong points of the LOGAN company remains the relationship with the customers and the after-sales service: this can be useful on occasion in the rare cases where the material is lacking.
Also have a look on ebay... but beware of the prohibitive shipping costs for items sold in the USA!
This machine for hobbyists allows you to drive "V" staples into all kinds of woods, hard or soft. Economical in material and extremely powerful: the assemblies are precise and solid. Its implementation requires a little training, within everyone's reach! (Note: staples are sold under the name V-Nails)
Rather than talking about it, it is better to see how this F300-1 ASSEMBLY (STUDIO JOINER) works. Very easy to implement!
If, to give you an idea, you prefer the very complete technical instructions: read : STUDIO JOINER ASSEMBLY and PARTS.

Whoever has never broken the protective glass by fixing the "package" in the frame should not read these lines !!! In fact, it happens more often than we would like... and even to the most experienced !
The LOGAN F400-1 Frame Back Stapler
LOGAN has designed a very clever tool (a kind of stapler for frame bottoms) to insert, without any risk of breaking, the little "man-head" spikes we use to fix the package in its frame.
Thanks to a rotating barrel, 4 different types of fixing points can be used: no complicated adjustments, very easy to use, this ingenious tool can be used in both hard and soft woods. It is also suitable for all common widths of frame mouldings .
This same tool is capable of inserting those small flexible or rigid tabs used by the "pros" of framing.
And as nothing is better than a small video demo... (This time, neither in English... nor in French either !) here is something to enlighten you on the operation of the "Fitting Tool" F400-1 :
On the net, here are two addresses where you can find this Logan fitting tool. Their prices are significantly different and should guide you in your choice.
Click on the links in the table for a more complete description : :WalMart (52$) or AMAZON (40$)
My opinion is that it is better to order the automatic stapler below instead...
The LOGAN F500-2 Dual Drive Stapler
The LOGAN F500-2 automatic stapler does the same job as its predecessor: but it does it without the need to "reload" each time with staples, allowing you to work more rationally and faster.
It is a semi-professional material, with adjustable tension according to the type of wood. It works perfectly with all types of staples, soft or hard.
Here again, given its somewhat high price, it is a tool that can perfectly be part of the collective toolbox of a club or association.
To buy on the net, you have the choice... I looked on Walmart and Amazon. I leave you the links for these two sites but there are others!
2 modèles sont disponibles :
Portable Frame Joiner Nailer that I found at ebay for 45$. This is most likely a copy of the Logan F500. I don't have any more information to give you...
Logan dual point Elite driver that you can buy at AMAZON for $50 or at Walmart for $60 .
This stappler is the reference in the matter.
In my personal opinion, it's better to buy the original LOGAN rather than the copy... for 5$ difference, it's not worth it to be stingy!
I wish you good and beautiful framings!
